Product information

What PTFE 100X does

Slickote PTFE 100X — the current formulation of the PTFE 100 series — bonds a PTFE fluorocarbon resin film to metal surfaces in a single heat-cured application. The result is a dry lubricating surface with a low coefficient of friction, plus corrosion, chemical, and solvent protection in the same film.

Applications & coating system

Anodized aluminum castings and metal hardware needing dry lubricity and a uniform finish.

Applied over sealed or unsealed anodized aluminum per MIL-A-63576 Ty3, the coating passes 1000 hours of salt spray with impact resistance, and gives castings the decorative appearance of black-anodized aluminum. In low gloss black it is the finish used by OEM firearms manufacturers on guns, rifles, and armaments.

For automotive programs, PTFE 100X applied over an anodize finish is an alternative to e-coating under GMW 14671 Ty F.

PTFE 100X and PTFE 200X

Choose between the PTFE base film of 100X and the added molybdenum disulfide in 200X for contacting metal surfaces.

Specification requirements

MIL-A-63576 Ty3 and GMW 14671 Ty F claims apply to the specified coating system over anodized aluminum. Confirm preparation and acceptance criteria for your program.

Anodized aluminum
Finish
Low Gloss Black

PTFE 100X combines a decorative black finish with a dry lubricating film. Anodized aluminum automotive parts are among its documented applications.

Semi Gloss Silver

On moving metal hardware, a bonded dry film provides lubricity without a wet lubricant. The semi gloss silver option keeps a metallic appearance.

Low Gloss Black

A low-friction surface helps moving metal parts slide. The cured coating stays bonded to the hardware, with chemical and solvent resistance for industrial service.
